Dead by Daylight Boon Totems to appear in next PTB
Back during this year’s Dead by Daylight anniversary it was revealed that there would be some major changes coming to the asymmetrical horror game; such as the inclusion of a new thing for Survivors and Killers to interact with: Boon Totems.
Totems are interactable objects that, currently, only Survivors can interact with. Dull Totems are just three, plain skulls on sticks that Survivors can get rid of to earn points, heal themselves if they have a specific perk, as well as prevent certain Killer perks from activating during the endgame (such as the infamous No One Escapes Death). The only other Totem type is Hex Totems – killer-specific Totems that look the same as Dull but are lit up with an orange flame underneath them. Survivors must get rid of these, otherwise their trial will be harder.
However, thanks to the latest patch notes, we know that Boon Totems are on their way and will be making an appearance in the next Dead by Daylight Public Test Build. We don’t know for certain when that will be, but considering the PTB usually happens on a Tuesday… There’s a very good chance we’ll get to see the Boon Totems in action as soon as tomorrow.
Unlike the previous Totems we’ve mentioned, Boon Totems aren’t exclusive to just Survivors. While Boon Totems are only able to be used by Survivors – meaning that Survivors will get additional effects that boost them and their team whenever a Boon Totem is active – Killers are able to interact with them too. It hasn’t been confirmed how they’ll interact with them outside of destroying the Survivor’s Boon Totem, but we’re stoked to find out more when the PTB goes live. After all, Boon Totems might just be the thing Dead by Daylight needs to shake the game up.
