All of the LGBTQ+ inclusive games shown at Gamescom 2021

If you’ve been unable to watch all of Gamescom 2021 to see which games you’d like, then fear not! Because after watching each and every show, we’ve managed to provide our readers with a list that we’re certain you’ll love: a list of all of the LGBTQ+ inclusive games shown at the event.

As queer gamers, we’ve become used to not seeing games that represent us in big, showcases like the ones at The Game Awards, E3 and Gamescom. However things have begun to change for the better, and now LGBTQ+ inclusive games like Life is Strange, Moonglow Bay, and more have started to appear. Unlike E3 2021, Gamescom didn’t have too much to show in the LGBTQ+ department, but that doesn’t mean we didn’t spot a few queer games that we’re sure you’re going to love.

If we’ve missed any LGBTQ+ inclusive game, give us a quick email and we’ll be quick to add more to this list!

Life is Strange: True Colors

We’ve only recently seen more about Alex Chen, someone who really puts a new meaning behind being an empath, and their love interests Steph and Ryan, but that doesn’t mean we weren’t stoked to see more about the game during Gamescom 2021.

In the small segment that was shown by the Deck Nine team, we got to see Alex help one of the residents of Haven Springs who seemed to be going through the early stages of dementia.

Life is Strange: True Colors is set to release on September 10th, 2021.

Forza Horizon 5

We mentioned Forza Horizon 5 during E3 2021, but we’re still just as surprised to know that the game really is taking inclusivity seriously with its character creator. It will allow players to choose their pronouns, their look and will even allow prosthetics. It’s definitely nothing to sniff your nose up at!

At Gamescom 2021 though, the focus was more on the cars themselves. Instead of racing through a jungle, players were shown footage of the Gran Caldera volcano, dirt roads, and more vehicles.

Forza Horizon 5 is set to release November 9th, 2021.

Moonglow Bay

Fishing may not be everyone’s favourite minigame, but we’re not everyone and we can heartily say that we’re super stoked for Bunnyhug’s Moonglow Bay. In this game, players take on the role of a newbie angler who must work together with their friends and family to help save the remote town they live in from its own fragmented community.

We previously talked with the Moonglow Bay developers about same-sex relationships for your character, as well as pronouns. It’s great insight into what you can expect from the game when it releases this October! And we’re not just saying that because we’re biased, either! Well… Maybe a little.

Moonglow Bay is set to release October 7th, 2021.

Gamescom 2021
The Waylanders

Developed by Gato Studios, The Waylanders is a Dragon Age: Origins inspired RPG that combines time-travel, Celtic mythology and Medieval Spain into one, epic game. It sounds like a lot already, but what makes this game stand out is it’s open-minded perspective on sex and gender.

Not only are you able to have polyamorous relationships with many of the companions and characters you come across, you’ll get the chance of meeting these characters again in different life forms (or, simply older for your immortal companions) when you travel into the future. It sounds wonderful, if somewhat complicated!

The Waylanders is set to release November 16th, 2021.

Saints Row reboot
Saints Row

Alright, this might seem like cheating considering we don’t know too much about the game, but what we do know about the series in the past, we’re almost certain that Saints Row will continue down the LGBTQ+ inclusive road it’s been travelling on for years now.

While it’s highly possible that your Boss is going to be far too busy to romance their fellow gang members like the old Boss did in Saints Row 4, it’s almost certain that the series will continue to have a fantastic character creator that’ll allow players to create the Boss that suits them. And let’s be honest, it’ll probably be way more inclusive than what Cyberpunk 2077 gave us.

Saints Row is set to release February 25, 2022.
