New Heartstealer Quest From Runescape Features a Lesbian Couple
It’s never too late to get into the spirit of love, and what better way to do that than starting the brand new Heartstealer quest from Runescape – one that features the very first lesbian couple in the game. Yes, we’re talking about Caelyn Kadaan, as well as her wife Annette.
Caelyn and Annette are the first LGBTQ+ couple to be involved in the popular MMO from Jagex and have stirred up quite the treat for queer players when they appeared as a couple during the 2020 Easter Egg event.
The story of their relationship is quite sweet too. Caelyn, being a notorious master thief, first met Annette after she tried to steal from her family’s estate. Despite such a meeting, Annette saw this as an opportunity to give up the noble life she had and renounced her noble title to follow Caelyn on a life of adventure, eventually marrying her. They’ve been together ever since.
The Heartstealer quest is available today, Monday 8th of February, and the fan-favourite couple has returned for a mission you won’t soon forget! That’s because in this Valentine’s quest, Caelyn has only gone and forgotten to get Annette an anniversary gift! Awkward… Luckily, our favourite thief has a plan – she needs you to help her infiltrate a fancy gala at the Varrock Museum and, ahem, ‘appropriate’ a massive heart-shaped ruby from right under everyone’s noses. What could go wrong?
Nothing, absolutely nothing! As long as you’re willing to help out, that is. Of course if you’re a tad busy then not to worry, because the Heartstealer quest will be available all year round. Perfect for those who haven’t got the time to help out our favourite lesbian couple in Runescape.

I’m a straight male, and let me tell you, I enjoyed the quest.
I’ve had friends and still have friends that are LGBTQ+ and felt Jagex did a great job with the characters and the story-line. The couple in question reminds me of a older couple of ladies I know who have been married longer then I’ve been alive.
Looking beyond LGBTQ+, I felt the story was relatable. How many times have we looked at our significant other and forgot to get that all too important gift for Valentines, Birthday, or Anniversary? Then call up buddies and try to get something ‘last minute’ that will work. All while praying that it works out.
So you the mighty player/hero get to help someone get a gift for their loved one. For me this transcends Straight/Gay and is a person helping someone else out of a jam. I love the plot twist at the end (Though I had a feeling what was going on way before a certain blonde was ‘unmasked’ – No spoilers for you, do the quest. I did it without a quest guide in 30 minutes while eating dinner….).
I actually like the “slice of life” quests more then the “fight” quests because the story-line feels more thought out.
