Celestial Hearts Is a JRPG Where Queer Love Beats All

February has been more than a little slow in the queer love department, so we’re more than pleased for that to change with the release of Celestial Hearts – a JRPG where love between two women is a force to be reckoned with.

A lot of queer video games are focused around visual novels, so fans who are looking for something new may just find that Celestial Hearts is the game for them. It has most JRPG features that fans will recognize, such as an active time battle (ATB) system, a selection of items, weapons, and armour, as well as a group of five heroes, each with their own background and story.

If you’re looking for some more bang for your buck, you’ll be pleased to know that there are three different difficulty modes, including a Story Mode that will let you focus entirely on the story – which is around 12 to 16 hours long.

Celestial Hearts isn’t just a regular old JRPG with ‘save the world’ as the endgame though. This game follows a more personal story, about a heartbroken elven girl, a trapped angel, and a rich family that’s deadset on ruining the lives of everyone in the village of Livia.

Head on over to Steam to play Celestial Hearts for yourself and, if you’re looking for another game where queer love beats all, check out our review of Sword of the Necromancer.
