The Last Of Us 2 Wins Over 200 GOTY Awards

Love it or hate it, The Last of Us Part 2 did well when it came to getting some serious awards thrown its way – including Game of the Year (GOTY) during Geoff Keighley’s memorable Game Awards late last year, 2020.

It isn’t just the Game Awards GOTY that The Last of Us Part 2 managed to steal, however. According to Kitguru, as well as the gameawards.net, the apocalyptic game that follows Ellie in her quest for vengeance netted in 216 GOTY awards, altogether. 149 of these awards came from Media Outlets, whilst the rest were due to Readers Choice.

What was rather telling about these awards is that not one other game came close to beating Naughty Dog’s game, the closest being Supergiant Games’ Hades, with a total of 47 GOTY awards. In 2019, it was Death Stranding that ultimately won 91 GOTY awards against some fierce competition, meaning that for The Last of Us Part 2 to win over 200 GOTY awards… Well, it’s obvious that the game resonated with fans, no matter if you were queer or not.
