Check out the Melbourne Queer Games Festival 2020!

There really hasn’t been a lot to celebrate this year – unless you count our wonderful 3-month event, DIGIPRIDE 2020 – but that hasn’t stopped a small team of volunteers from Melbourne from pulling together the Melbourne Queer Games Festival 2020!

The reason for the Melbourne Queer Games Festival 2020 is simple, and is explained on the official website.

“To inform, entertain and challenge LGBTIQ players by reflecting their lives in games. To bring the best of world queer culture to Melbourne and enhance the reputation of Australian game developers.” The websites says. “The Melbourne Queer Games Festival (MQGF) is a lofi and downloadable event held in October by a small team of volunteers who love queer games. It includes a livestream, website, downloadable app, and [an] awards programme.”

The Melbourne Queer Games Festival has run before, starting back in 2018. It showcases a number of queer games, including some that we’ve never even heard of before, but will most definitely include in our Gaymes of the Week! You’ll also see games that we’ve spoken about before, such as If Found… and Family Dinner. You can check out the full showcase of games right here.

This year the volunteers have gone a step further, announcing the MQGF Emerging Developer Award – an award that’ll one developer a cash prize of $500 US dollars. We can’t wait to find out just who will be taking home that prize!
