Celebrate PlayStation’s 25th Anniversary with these incredible games

PlayStation originally released in the EU on the 29th of September, 1995 – making it the 25th anniversary today!

PlayStation have been creating and publishing some of the very best games since then, and we’re excited to see how they’ll progress within the next generation.

In the meantime though, why don’t you check out some of the best games that makes PlayStation so legendary?

Horizon Zero Dawn

Horizon Zero Dawn was met with excitement when it was first teased back at E3, 2015. We didn’t know much – only that this woman looked badass in beating the crud out of a machine. Since then, Horizon Zero Dawn has earned itself a positive reputation, with Aloy, the protagonist, becoming a fan-favourite among PlayStation players.

Aloy is set to return to our consoles in the sequel, Horizon Zero Dawn: Forbidden West sometime in 2021 on the PS5.

Final Fantasy VII Remake
Final Fantasy 7 Remake EGX 2019

Final Fantasy VII Remake was nothing short of a masterpiece, and it only came out this year! But trust us when we say that it’s an essential video game to play on the PS4, even for newcomers who haven’t played the game before. It’s only a slice of the original game, but a rewarding one that deserves your attention.

As of yet, it is unknown when Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 2 is going to be released.

The Last of Us Series

Nothing quite says ‘celebrate the Playstation on their 25th’ birthday by looking at a game series that still continues to divide players. In the first The Last of Us game you play as Joel in his quest to take Ellie back to the Fireflies, and in the second you play as Ellie on her adventure to get revenge. Oh, did we mention that a lot of undead people want to eat you? There’s that too.

It’s a complicated, complex series that we feel, if you want to get to the heart of current PlayStation gaming, you need to play at least once in your life.

Ratchet & Clank

Ratchet & Clank is one of the most charming video games we’ve ever played. It’s a platformer that puts you in the shoes of two friends and their quest to smack, tear, bash and force your way through swathes of different foes that are looking to make your life a painful one. All in order to stop the most evil person of all, Drek.

Ratchet & Clank will be returning on the PS5, and even bringing cute new characters too, in Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.

God of War

God of War changed the meaning of the word Daddy for good when it came to Kratos’ new look. It also revitalized the God of War series in general, introducing new characters and humanizing Kratos – something which we didn’t think was possible. It’s easily one of the best games on PS4, and a must-buy.

A sequel to God of War has been teased this year, and is apparently set to release sometime next year, 2021.
