Summer of Pride 2020 raises $25,000 for LGBTQ+ charities

Summer of Pride 2020 started with a bang on June 1st, with indie studio MidBoss, the creatives behind games like 2064: Read Only Memories, and the upcoming sequel, Read Only Memories: NEURODIVER, featuring streamers playing queer-positive games, as well as their own storefront of queer games.

It is the second time that Midboss have done their second annual-month long celebration of LGBTQ+ diversity in video games, and it’s proven to be just as successful. With sales from Steam, the Nintendo Switch eShop, and alongside its Twitch streams, the initiative has raised more than $25,000 for LGBTQ+ charities. The charities included was Trans LifelineThe Trevor Project, The Bail Project, and GaymerX.

This is the first time that Midboss has added a charity element to Summer of Pride, with Midboss donating 100% of the money made from the Summer of Pride storefront. The studio will continue to donate all-proceeds year-round, meaning that if you want to support these charities, be sure to buy these queer-positive games from the Midboss storefront.

But will there be a third Summer of Pride next year? According to CEO of Midboss, Cade Peterson, that is most certainly a possibility.

“The success of Summer of Pride 2020 proves there is a strong demand for positive LGBTQ+ representation in games and to hear from queer content creators around the world,” said Peterson. “We look forward to continuing Summer of Pride annually, making it a bigger and better event each year.”
