The DualSense is the PS5’s New Controller

The PS5 may be the last thing on people’s minds with all this madness going on, but that hasn’t stopped Sony from revealing something new about it. Yesterday on the official PlayStation Blog, Sony unveiled the PS5’s new controller, the DualSense.

Moving away from the DualShocker brand, Sony have created a controller where “captivating your senses” to give complete immersion to the player is a prominent feature. In their blog post, Sony acknowledged that the DualShock 4 was praised and considered highly successful, so how could they improve from that?

The DualSense is apparently the answer to that. And while the colour leads much to be desired, it doesn’t look all too bad. And we don’t know about you, but we’re barely going to be looking at the controller anyway rather than the games we’re going to be playing with it.

Regardless, the DualSense has had a number of different things added to it. The L2 and R2 buttons have been described as being “adaptive triggers,” which makes certain actions — such as the tension of pulling back the string of a bow in-game — feel as real as ever. There were also changes to the angle of the hand triggers, as well as the grips.

One of the bigger changes is that there is no longer a ‘Share’ button. Instead this has been replaced with ‘Create’. According to Sony, the Create button will help with creating “epic gameplay content to share with the world.” If you ask me, that just sounds like a fancier way of saying it’s the Share button with a different name.

With this being the final look of the DualSense, we’re eager to see what the PS5 will end up looking like. We just hope we can change the colour of our controller later on in the future.
