Star Wars new project, Project Maverick, leaks via PlayStation Network

After Star Wars Fallen Order, you’d be forgiven for thinking that Electronic Arts, aka EA, would be doing their damned best to show off every Star Wars project available. However, it’s been oddly quiet on that front. Until today. Thanks to a PSN leak, Star Wars new project may be closer than we first thought.

As Polygon first reported, the reveal comes from a Twitter account called “PSN releases.” According to Polygon, this account is “run by a bot that monitors Sony’s PlayStation Network for new Playstation 4 game releases and updates.” One such update was Star Wars: Project Maverick.

The title alone is enough to be excited about, but the picture included has managed to make our brains explode with anticipation. What we can see in the picture is, quite obviously, an Imperial Star Destroyer. Below the warship are small X-Wings and with how red everything is? Could it be the legendary planet, Mustafar?

With the focus seemingly on these ships, both of which are iconic to the Star Wars universe, could this game be hinting at something that we’ve wanted for a long time? Yes, we’re talking about ship battles in space, and not just the ones you play in Star Wars: Battlefront 2.

While it’s far from being confirmed, as we’re certain that EA didn’t intend for this to be leaked in the first place, it at least gives us room to speculate. For example, one theory of ours is that it could relate to New Academy for Space Pilots, a flight academy for those part of the Rebel Alliance. This academy was also featured in the 1979 children’s book, The Maverick Moon, and with the game called Project Maverick…

As of now, this is all just mere speculation. But wouldn’t it be incredible to have a game that began as a children’s book? We certainly think so.
