Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX releases today on the Switch

Hang onto your hats, Pokemon fans because Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX is officially out today on the Nintendo Switch! Rescue Team DX is a revisit of the classic Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games such as Red and Blue Rescue Team.

As players of the original games will know, you start this game by answering a few questions about yourself. After that’s done you wake up to discover something strange about yourself — namely that you’ve been transformed into a Pokemon. Depending on what answers you gave, the appearance can differ.

Thankfully you have a few other Pokemon that are eager to help you discover what transformed you into a Pokemon in the first place. But first, you’ve gotta make some sort of living, which leads you to form a dungeon-delving team. It’s pretty damn cool.

But this remake has also gone through a massive number of improvements, with new gameplay features and characters that weren’t seen before in the original game from 2006. Personally we’re just hoping to see our best son/daughter Charizard again.

One particular feature that stands out is the camping system, where players can build new rescue teams to help rescue team members who have been knocked unconscious in dungeons. But don’t worry if you feel like the dungeon is still too difficult for you to be rescued, there are alternative methods. For example, you can send a rescue request to another player. After accepting the request, the other player can go and rescue the team that has fainted. Players who have rescued another rescue team will receive in-game rewards.

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon is now available on the Nintendo Switch. Will you be purchasing it today?
