A Cyberpunk 2077 Switch port? It probably won’t happen
There are many things that we’d love to happen, knowing full well that the possibility of it happening is probably 0. A Cyberpunk 2077 Switch port is one of those things. We can see this not happening for a number of reasons, but none quite stands out as the probably possibility the game is just too much for the Nintendo Switch to run.
Of course, we thought that about The Witcher 3, a game that everyone can’t help but love. As VideoGamer rightly pointed out, The Witcher 3 “runs comfortably at 720p and 540p when docked and undocked.” And while there has been some criticism about the game looking as though it’s covered in vaseline, it’s ultimately a rather enjoyable port.
That said, it is highly improbable that Cyberpunk 2077 will be facing the same treatment. During an interview with OnMSFT, CD PROJEKT Red’s studio boss, John Mamais commented on the possibility of a Cyberpunk 2077 Switch port.
“Not as far as I know. Not yet. I don’t know if Cyberpunk 2077 would work on the Nintendo Switch. It might be too heavy for it. But then, we did put Witcher 3 on it and we thought that would be too heavy too but somehow we pulled it off.” Mamais also talked about how the studio had no plans for VR either, sorry VR fans.
As for the Switch port, it isn’t exactly a hard no but we’re not convinced that it will be making its way to Switch anytime soon. We could be proven wrong, as we were with The Witcher 3, but as the kids say: doubt.
In other news, Cyberpunk 2077’s release date has been changed but the release of the games Funko Pops have not been. We’re not sure if you should be happy about that or not.
Cyberpunk 2077 will be released for PC, PlayStation 4, Google Stadia, and Xbox One on September 17, 2020.
