Overwatch Winter Wonderland is now live

Christmas is our favourite time of year for many reasons. Not only do you get awesome presents and food, but if you’re a gaymer, you’re blessed with Winter events in video games. One winter event, however, is our absolute favourite: Overwatch Winter Wonderland.

Overwatch Winter Wonderland has been around since the game originally came out and had its first Christmas event, and it still holds up as one of the best Winter events around. This is largely because not only do players get new cosmetics, but the event comes with some of the best modes, such as Yeti Hunt and Mei’s Snowball Offensive.

This year is especially special, as Overwatch has since moved from just being on the PC, PS4, and Xbox One and has found a home on the Nintendo Switch. This will be the first time that Switch players will get the opportunity to play Overwatch Winter Wonderland, and we couldn’t be more excited for them.

With this year, players will be happy to find out that there is a new mode called ‘Snowball Deathmatch’. This is an eight-player free-for-all deathmatch where everyone will play as Mei, with a modified snowball gun. Mei will also get a new ability called ‘Catch’, which gives her the opportunity to catch a snowball thrown her way and add it to her ammo. The first player to get 15 eliminations wins the game.

As always, there will be weekly challenges too. The first week players will be able to get the Ugly Sweater Soldier 76 epic skin, the second will be Moira’s Holly epic skin, and the third and final week will be Snow Angel Mercy’s epic skin.

These won’t be the only skins available, however. These are the skins that you’ll either have to purchase or earn in a loot box:

  • Jotunn Doomfist
  • Mountain Man McCree
  • Rat King Reaper
  • Rime Sigma

Past Winter Wonderland skins will also be available, so if you missed out last year, we’re certain you’ll get the chance to earn them this time around!
