Games to watch out for: Chorus

Chorus is a game that Gayming Magazine has championed ever since it was revealed by Summerfall Studios. It’s a game that combines things we love, such as musicals and LGBT characters. Both of which are sorely lacking when it comes to our number one love: video games!

Yes, musicals are incredibly rare in video games, but thanks to Summerfall Studio’s David Gaider (known through games such as Dragon Age), and Liam Esler (Obsidian alumni) Chorus will be the video game that brings music directly into how the narrative plays out.

Instead of handling tricky situations with just an average conversation, or your fists, players will be using their singing voice instead. While details of what sort of ‘genre’ of songs will be included hasn’t been revealed, Summerfall has uploaded one of the songs that’ll be included in-game.

But this begs the question of what Chorus is about, and why is there singing involved in the first place? Well, the reasoning behind that is due to the character you’ll be playing.

The protagonist, Grace, has a very bad, no good day when her new singer turns up at her apartment, dies in her arms and promptly gives her the power to become an Idol. Which, as you may have guessed, has a lot to do with singing and the power that comes with it.

And you’ll need all the power you can get too. With the death of a Muse, the gods of this world aren’t all too happy, and with most of their attention on you? It looks as though it will be up to you to guide Grace throughout this mystery.

Singing, solving crimes and even the chance of finding love, Chorus looks to be a game you won’t want to miss.

Chorus is currently at 97% of its funding. If you’re interested, go support the game, as well as Summerfall Studios, on Fig.
