Cyberpunk 2077 multiplayer will be released after launch

Cyberpunk 2077 multiplayer is coming, but will not be included when the game launches in April next year.

This confirmation comes from CD Projekt RED’s official twitter account, which tweeted this morning about looking for individuals to help apply their skills to multiplayer.

The tweets said, “until now, the only thing we said about multi was that it was in R&D. As we’re getting closer to launching ‘single player’ Cyberpunk 2077 in Apr. 2020, we’d like to confirm that multiplayer’s in the works! If you feel like lending us your skills, apply.”

“The plan, for now, is to deliver Cyberpunk 2077 in April, then follow up with DLCs (free!) and single-player content, and — once we’re done — invite you for some multiplayer action.”

Cyberpunk 2077 multiplayer
Not much is known about Cyberpunk’s multiplayer at the moment.

The jobs involved in the post included are: 3D character artists, design directors, DevOps Engineer, game designer, lead QA analyst, network programmer, senior gameplay programmer, and tools programmer. So, a big team to be sure.

We don’t know much, or to be blunt, anything about multiplayer and what it will contain at the moment. It could be anything, as Cyberpunk combines gunfights, hacking and even racing through the city in a vehicle in its full game. Whether that could be added to form a Cyberpunk 2077 multiplayer component remains to be seen.

In other news, Cyberpunk 2077 recently released a 14-minute deep dive video that looked at the location of Pacifica, and the two gangs that live there, the Voodoo Boys and the Animals. The demo also allowed to us look at two very different ways we could initiate combat, as well as avoid it entirely.

CD Projekt RED also declared that players would play in the first-person view in Cyberpunk 2077 the majority of the time.

Cyberpunk 2077 will release on April 16th, 2020 for the PC, PS4, Google Stadia and Xbox One.
