Nintendo Switch Lite: A Proper Handheld Adaption Releasing 20 September 2019

The Nintendo Switch was a not so surprising hit with video game enthusiasts. By the end of 2018, experts estimated that the console was purchased by over 32,000,000 unique gamers. The next step up from the Nintendo 3DS, the Switch is going back to its roots with a proper handheld adaption.

Early this morning, Nintendo formally announced the introduction of the Nintendo Switch Lite, a solely handheld version of the interchangeable console. Noted for being smaller, cheaper and specifically designed for handheld video game players, the Nintendo Switch Lite is dropping into the palms of gamers on 20 September 2019 and you can purchase it for the cheaper price of $199 ($100 less than the console itself).

The new addition to your video game experience comes with new perks and design decisions. Switch Lite is noted for being lighter in weight yet sturdier than the console version that plugs into your television. Its D-pad and battery life are also noted as slightly improved, and Switch Lite will be available in a variety of colors and matte textures so you can customize your own handheld device to match your personal style preferences.

The downside? Well, there aren’t many considering you know what you’re purchasing when acquiring the Switch Lite. Of course, you lose the capability to bounce between handheld and television, and the controllers are built into the handheld device. The screen is also two inches smaller in diameter and Switch Lite loses its rumble capability.

On the plus side, Switch Lite features online, multi-player capability. A press release distributed by Nintendo states that you can enjoy favorite co-op games like Super Mario Maker 2, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Splatoon 2 and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Also an important function, Switch Lite will play all games produced for the original Switch.

The Nintendo Switch Lite will be available on 20 September 2019.
