Confetti’s Highlights from the Nintendo Direct

The September 12th Nintendo Direct had a lot of announcements and a lot to celebrate. The 40th Anniversary of Super Mario Bros is coming up next year, and Nintendo gave us a peek at what that celebration will look like. While we got announcements like the release date for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and a new Fire Emblem, there were other cozy announcements that, for me, stuck out a bit more!

Let’s dive in and check out some of my highlights.

Final Fantasy VII: Remake Intergrade

With my known obsession with Sephiroth, it should not come as a shock that I am excited for Final Fantasy VII: Remake Intergrade making its way to Switch 2 in January! Relive the story of ex-SOLDIER Cloud Strife as he stands against the corrupt forces of Shrina. By purchasing the digital edition early, it will include a copy of the original Final Fantasy VII. For those who prefer physical media, the physical bonus item includes a Play Booster pack of Magic: The Gathering – Final Fantasy. Either way, getting to carry around Sephiroth on my Switch is a dream come true, and I cannot wait for the launch.

Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream

In Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream players will create a world of Mii characters. On this small island it’s up to you to foster relationships between the Mii, learn their likes and dislikes to combat their boredom. Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream releases Spring 2026.

Hades II

Play as the Princess of the Underworld as she stands against the Titan of Time and their armies in Hades II. Hade II will be coming to Switch 2 digitally September 25 and November 12 physically; all versions of Hades II will support cross-save. Hades and Hades II have amazing queer representation that I am excited to see coming to the Switch 2.

Power Wash Simulator 2

Power Wash Simulator is the ultimate zen cozy experience and not only is Power Wash Simulator 2 coming to the Switch 2, but it has pet-able cats! There will be 38 new jobs to complete, with new tools and supplies that expands the way to complete tasks. Not only can you pet cats but you will have a fully customizable home base. Maximizing cozy vibes on Switch while petting cats at my home base in Power Wash Simulator sounds like the best time.

Suika Game Planet

Suika Game is one of the best puzzle games and that fun continues in Suika Game Planet. Combine fruit to create larger and so on, until you gain watermelons! Switch 2 will have exclusive 4-player local co-op mode with GameShare.

Pokémon Pokopia

A new cozy life/farming sim Pokémon game has been announced and will launch in 2026! In Pokémon Pokopia, you play as a Ditto that looks like a human, who will farm, build homes and take care of the Pokémon it meets. Ditto will learn skills from the Pokémon it meets, such as Water Gun from Squirtle and Cut from Scyther. Cozy farming life sim and Pokémon are truly the best of worlds colliding!

While most titles announced at the Nintendo Direct included many releases that include both Switch and Switch 2, there is definitely an air of anxiety watching The Directs wondering if the Switch 1 will be supported for an announced title. It is nice that the majority of the announced titles are releasing for Switch and Switch 2 for the time being.

Check out the full Nintendo Direct and let me know in the comments what stands out to you!
