Sucker for Love: Date to Die For releases Valentine’s Day 2024
During the recent Indie Horror Showcase, publisher DreadXP and developer Akabaka announced that the standalone sequel to Sucker for Love: First Date, Sucker for Love: Date to Die For will release on Valentine’s Day, 2024.
Sucker for Love: Date to Die For is an adventure visual novel where you play as a young woman named Stardust. She receives a mysterious letter from her very much already dead parents, which prompts her to return to her hometown. But things there have gotten weird, to say the least. People have been going missing, and the locals have developed a strange purple gaze called the Sacramencho Stare.
Upon arriving back in town, Stardust is chased by one of these folks, and ends up hiding back at her childhood home. But instead of ghostly parents, she finds an empty and very creepy house. While exploring it, she discovers a book that contains several eldritch spells, including one to summon something called the All Mother. Based on the description, this being sounds like it might be able to help, so Stardust does the ritual to summon it.
Turns out, the All Mother is a big tiddy, goth, mommy goat goddess who the locals created a cult around. It has subsequently gone out of control, and the All Mother is now more a hostage than a deity. Most people can’t even be around her because she’s a fertility goddess that drives people mad with desire, but Stardust is asexual and is therefore unaffected. Because of this, she can not only keep her head around the All Mother and perform the several rituals necessary to set everything right again.
Sucker For Love: Date to Die For will release for PC on February 14, 2024. Those interested in keeping up with any future updates can wishlist the game on Steam. The first SFL title, First Date, is also available on Steam currently, and is also playable on Steam Deck.
