Lake: Season’s Greetings holiday DLC has a release date
On Tuesday, publisher Whitethorn Games and developer Gamious announced that the upcoming, winter holiday downloadable content for contemplative mail delivery game Lake, Lake: Season’s Greetings, will release for Xbox, PC, and PlayStation 4/5 on November 15.
In the original game, players assume the role of Meredith, a woman who is successful and needed in her software development job. But when her father needs her to take over for him as her hometown’s local mail carrier, Meredith decides to return to Providence Oaks, Oregon. We follow her across the next two weeks as she reconnects with her roots and gets a taste of a slower way of living again.
Lake: Season’s Greetings is set a year before the first game, and instead follows Meredith’s dad Thomas Weiss during his mail deliveries in the winter holiday season. While the first game is set in springtime, Season’s Greetings is a literal winter wonderland where Thomas will deliver mail and chat with residents. By switching to Thomas’ perspective, the developers hope to show Providence Oaks from the viewpoint of an experienced resident, and to give players more context about his and Meredith’s relationship.
Beyond that, players will also get to meet five new characters, each of whom have their own storylines for you to follow. You will also get to decide how you want to spend your time when you’re not delivering mail, including partying to celebrate the holidays, watching TV, and going out with friends. Your choices as you play will cause the story to branch, allowing you to see different events and outcomes if you make different choices.
Lake: Season’s Greetings will arrive just in time for both the holidays and cold weather in the northern hemisphere, releasing on November 15 for Xbox, PlayStation 4/5, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
