Megan Fox joins the cast of Mortal Kombat 1 as Nitara
On Wednesday, WB Games and NetherRealm Studios announced that iconic Jennifer’s Body and Transformers star Megan Fox will be voicing the bloodthirsty vampire Nitara in its upcoming Mortal Kombat 1.
“I’m Megan Fox, and I’m voicing Nitara,” the actress states in the new official reveal trailer. “She comes from this weird realm. She is a type of vampire creature. She’s evil but she’s also good; she’s trying to save her people. I like her. She’s a vampire which…resonates for whatever reason.”
Fox clearly doesn’t take herself too seriously, alluding to the now-infamous locket smeared with her blood that her partner Machine Gun Kelly wears in this trailer. Considering her past with films like Jennifer’s Body, and her current era of somewhat spooky love, a hungry vampire seems like a solid fit for Fox’s portfolio.
For her part, Nitara made her Mortal Kombat debut in 2002’s Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance. She has cameos and references in other games within the franchise after this, but it looks like MK1 will be her first big showing in a main game since then.
“It’s cool to be in the game,” Fox said in the trailer. “Because I’m not just voicing it, it’ll be like…she’s kind of me.”
“I’ve had a lot of fun doing it, and it’s caused me to be more free with myself.”
Fox isn’t the only celebrity who’s been part of the MK1 press campaign so far. Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy, Glass Onion) has also been part of the game’s marketing, playing a demo on video and starring in a different trailer to hype the game up.
Mortal Kombat 1 releases in a little over a week on September 19, so there’s not too long to wait before we get to see Megan Fox in action as Nitara.
