Players aren’t the only ones giving Scratch pets in Baldur’s Gate 3

Baldur’s Gate 3 isn’t just a game where you fight to rid yourself of a mind-flayer tadpole; it’s also a great ‘pet-the-dog’ simulator thanks to the loveable dog companion, Scratch.

Players are first introduced to Scratch while exploring the wilderness, an area that’s unlocked after escaping the crashing nautiloid ship in the opening act.

Play your cards right — or more accurately, roll your dice right — and you’ll be able to recruit Scratch to your camp as a follower. Not only is he a wonderful companion and familiar that you can use whenever you want, but he even brings you items sometimes in camp. A win/win!

Scratch has quickly become a favourite among Baldur’s Gate 3 players, especially because you can pet him and show him that he is, indeed, the best boy because, oh yes, he is, oh yes, he is.

However, as discovered by Twitter user wargpuppy, it isn’t just the player character that can pet Scratch. There are others out there who are more than willing to give the best boy his pats.

“ZEVLOR PETS SCRATCH !!!” Wargpuppy tweeted. “BaldersGate3 most of the tieflings in the party will pet Scratch after he hops in front of them and encourages them!”

The party event is only available for players who choose to help Zevlor and the tieflings camped out in the Druid’s Grove during Act 1. As of now, we’re unsure if Scratch does this for the goblins during their own party event, or with companions during camp time.

Even so, this small moment of Scratch getting his fair share of pats is certainly a memorable moment and once again shows the sheer amount of detail Larian Studios has put into its iteration of Faerun.
