Goodbye Volcano High has gone gold
On Monday, developer KO_OP announced that its upcoming high school dinosaur narrative game Goodbye Volcano High has officially gone gold and will release on August 29.
“Goodbye Volcano High has gone GOLD!!” KO_OP tweeted. “So proud of this incredible, dedicated team for this huge achievement 😭 Goodbye Volcano High launches August 29th!! ☄️ Wishlist it on Steam and the PlayStation store now!”
This game has struggled with development, facing multiple delays thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, and a right-wing hate campaign that has even included a “parody” version of the game that released before the real one did. Despite these difficulties, it is now officially complete and ready to ship for its August 29 release date.
The story follows Fang, an 18 year-old dinosaur in their final year of high school in a world that’s going to end within a year. In that time, they want to have their band VVORM DRAMA go viral, and also need to come to terms with all the relationships in their life. That includes dating, as a big theme of the game is being honest with people about your feelings while you still have the chance to be. According to KO_OP, this is “a cinematic narrative game about the end of an era, and the beginning of a love story.”
Players will be able to check Goodbye Volcano High out on PlayStation 4/5 and PC via Steam on August 29.
