The Divinity Original Sin board game has reached its Kickstarter goal

Divinity Original Sin has become a game that I play regularly, and feel very strong feelings about. It’s a game that blends campy fun and seriousness together without being overbearing or losing its structure. So, a Divinity Original Sin board game was bound to catch my attention.

Larian Studios, the developers of the acclaimed RPG series, only revealed the Kickstarter page yesterday and already it’s reached its goal of $160,000. Not only has it been reached, but the first two stretch goals – the addition of Sebille and Fang minis, as well as a Lady Vengeance clock – have also been met too.

With the cheapest pledge being $120 – which is about 93 in GBP – we’re not entirely shocked that it’s been met so fast.

But we’re certain that it’s also because the game just looks damn good too. On the Kickstarter, Larian Studios showed players how to play with an hour and a half preview being available to watch. They also showed character cards, the different bits and pieces that each player will have, as well as the unique dice that will be included with the game.

The gist of the game is rather simple too. Allowing up to 4 players, you’ll have to work together in order to make your way through a choose-your-own-adventure campaign, with 847 standard cards and other various tokens to help you with things such as combat, crafting and even role-playing.

It may sound a little demanding – 847 cards is uh, a lot of cards – but one of the most intriguing things about this new Divinity Original Sin board game is that it doesn’t require a Games Master to play it. You truly can just be four friends who just want to have fun, kick butt and maybe kiss a few skeletons without having to worry about constant preparation. As a GM myself, that sounds like a dream to me.

The game is set to release in October 2020. If you want the chance to get it for yourself, be sure to pledge for yourself!
