Fellow Traveler announces Times & Galaxy
On Tuesday, indie publisher Fellow Traveler (Citizen Sleeper, Genesis Noir, Paradise Killer) and developer Copychaser Games (Speed Dating for Ghosts) announced their next game project, Times & Galaxy. The game is set to release sometime in 2024, but interested players can check out a demo right now on Steam.
In Times & Galaxy, players take on the role of the first-ever robot reporter at the Dorp system’s most widely-read regional holopaper of the same name. Well, actually, you’re an intern, but if you manage to impress your boss by getting scoops and writing great stories, you might just get to keep your job.
As an intern, you will get the most local of hyperlocal story assignments, from intersolar cat shows, to space ghost funerals, to explosive toy launches. It will be up to you to do your research to cover these stories properly, following your leads extensively and conducting interviews. Every story you file will have an impact on the paper’s readership and reputation, so it’s important to put forth your best effort every cycle. Using the Build-A-Story™ tool, you’ll write your copy and factor in all the information you gathered, so be sure your investigations are thorough!
In between reports, you will also have the chance to get to know the diverse crew of coworkers you have at the paper. There are two dozen other characters you will get to interact with, befriending some and annoying others. You will also have to help maintain your ship on your days off, but as you go, crewmates will upgrade your systems to improve your sleuthing skills.
Several members of the Copychaser Games team formerly worked at newspapers as reporters or editors, and they have channeled their deep appreciation for local reporting into this game. Times & Galaxy will be available sometime in 2024, and players can check out a demo for it right now via Steam.
