Mythwrecked: Ambrosia Island lets you be besties with Greek gods

Ever wanted to befriend a geek god and go on an adventure that’ll have you saying ‘the real treasure was the friends we made along the way’? Step in Mythwrecked: Ambrosia Island.

Developed by Polygon Treehouse, the studio behind one of our personal favourite games, the narrative adventure Röki and published by Whitethorn Games (APICO, Lake, etc), Mythwrecked: Ambrosia Island is a non-linear narrative and adventure game, which has been aptly described as a “friend ‘em up” experience. That’s right, the aim of the game? Making all of the Greek gods your besties. Yes, you can have multiple besties.

In this sun-soaked adventure, players will follow Alex – a backpacker who is taking a break from their modern, 9-5 lifestyle. However, her little holiday faces ruin when a terrible storm causes her to wash up on Ambrosia Island. It’s here she discovers that this island is actually the long-lost home of the Greek gods which, if you ask us, already makes it a much better holiday destination than Benidorm.

Unfortunately, the Greek gods Alex meets has a slight problem: they have no idea who they are. This leaves players with the task of piecing together what happened to her new frazzled acquaintances, and help them restore their memories. Along the way, you may even become friends because romance? So last year.

One way to help your new best friends is through exploring the island using an Ambrosidex device. With it, Alex will be able to discover the Gods belongings, and other items that will help with performing odd jobs and favours. There will also be a range of puzzles and challenges for Alex to overcome – but all will be useful in helping uncover the Gods’ memories.

“When developing Mythwrecked, we wanted to ensure that it could be played and enjoyed by everyone,” said Alex Kanaris-Sotiriou, Creative Director of Polygon Treehouse and Lead Developer of Mythwrecked. “That mentality, and the game’s combination of non-violent gameplay, accessible controls and universal themes, made our choice to partner with Whitethorn Games a no-brainer.”

Mythwrecked: Ambrosia Island will be available to play on PC when it launches sometime in 2023.
