PAC-MAN celebrates 42nd anniversary with new song, Fortnite and more
On Monday, Bandai Namco announced a litany of celebrations for PAC-MAN’s 42nd anniversary, including an all-new theme song, the release of PAC-MAN MUSEUM +, a contest for fans to win a PAC-MAN-themed prize pack, and the launch of PAC-MAN-themed items in Fortnite via a partnership with Epic Games.
fans will be able to celebrate an arcade classic in a variety of ways. The new theme for this classic character is called “We are PAC-MAN!” It was written by Yoshihito Yano of Bandai Namco Studios Inc. and Kazuhito Udetsu of Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc., and performed by Tokyo-based artist Kaho Kidoguchi. The new jam also features an accompanying music video that uses classic game imagery.
PAC-MAN MUSEUM+ launches on Friday, May 27 for Xbox One, PlayStation4, Nintendo Switch, and PC, along with Xbox Play Anywhere support. It will also be compatible with PS5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles via backwards compatibility, and will be available on Xbox Game Pass on launch day. The game allows players to revisit 14 past titles in the franchise, some of which haven’t been easily available in years.
Big PAC-MAN fans will also have the chance to enter to win a prize package featuring swag based on the yellow, ghost munching fiend. From Monday, May 23 through Friday, May 27, fans can enter the “PAC-MAN Birthday Sweepstakes.” Five winners will get the ultimate PAC-MAN prize package with more than a dozen prizes including a Bandai Namco Legacy Edition arcade machine from Arcade1Up so they can play from the comfort of their homes.
Finally, Epic Games is joining the birthday festivities with arcade legend themed items in smash-hit battle royale Fortnite. These items will launch on June second for those who want to waka waka walk around Fortnite’s various locales in style, though we haven’t seen what they’ll actually be yet.
