Respawn is developing three new Star Wars games

Respawn, the development and production studio behind Apex Legends and Titanfall, is leading the development behind three new Star Wars games. They are joining forces with EA and Lucasfilm Games.

In a blog post from EA, the various details on what sort of games we’ll be seeing from Respawn were laid out.

The first game mentioned in the blog is an action-adventure game, being worked on by Stig Asmussen as game director, and his team. We assume that this being the next game in the Star Wars Jedi series is in reference to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, which had players following protagonist Cal Kestis.

The next two games are being worked on by two new teams and are of two different genres. One will be from game director Peter Hirschmann, who has a bountiful history of working on the Star Wars franchise, and is said to be a first-person shooter. Perhaps Star Wars: Battlefront 3? Or maybe something entirely different.

The other game will be Star Wars strategy game, developed collaboratively with the newly formed studio Bit Reactor and will be led by Greg Foerstch.

“We are excited to continue working with the superbly talented developers at Respawn,” said Douglas Reilly, Vice President of Lucasfilm Games. “They have demonstrated excellence in telling epic Star Wars stories along with best-in-class gameplay across different genres and we are looking forward to bringing more amazing experiences to the galaxy far, far away.”

All three new Star Wars games are currently being worked on, with people at the helm – such as Hirschmann, who was the executive producer of the original Star Wars: Battlefront games – who have worked with the franchise before.

Currently, Respawn are actively looking to hire people to help work on the new projects. “We are huge fans of Star Wars here at Respawn and we’re thrilled to work with Lucasfilm Games on new titles that we have wanted to make for years,” said Vince Zampella, Group GM and Founder of Respawn. “If you want to make great Star Wars games, you should come join us on our journey.”

At this point in time, the name/title of each project has not been revealed.
