It’s unlikely Dragon Age 4 will be at The Game Awards 2021
Our last look at Dragon Age 4 was during last year’s The Game Awards and yet despite the lack of news, the game still continues to be on everyone’s mind.
Two weeks ago the creative director of Dragon Age 4, Matt Goldman, departed after 4 years. It was a departure that, understandably, left some fans worried about what or when they could expect to find out more about the long-awaited sequel to Dragon Age: Inquisition. After all, for better or for worse, ideas about what the game will feature, outside of most likely beating the living crap out of Solas, have yet to be confirmed by the Canadian studio.
What has become clear, however, is that it’s highly unlikely that players looking towards this years The Game Awards for more Dragon Age 4 news will be satisfied.
While it hasn’t been confirmed whether BioWare is making any sort of appearance – whether to tease a Mass Effect game where Shepard is hopefully absent or something else entirely – or not, big events like The Game Awards are usually the time where fans get their hopes up on seeing something new or something that they’ve been eagerly waiting for.
The reason why we (and Game Informer) believe that the fantasy series won’t be making an appearance is that during Dragon Age Day (December 4), the studio released a blog post that not only released two new wonderful stories for fans to devour, but revealed an informative tidbit about when we can expect to hear more about the game.
“Speaking of building new worlds and stories for you to explore, we want to let you all know that we’re still hard at work on building the next single-player focused experience for Dragon Age,” the blog post’s ending paragraph reads. “We’re excited for next year when we can talk more about what we’re working on.”
Of course, it could also be argued that, just because BioWare won’t be talking about the game until next year, it doesn’t necessarily mean we won’t get any Dragon Age news at all. Perhaps another tease trailer, or something else that will give fans room to speculate throughout the rest of December.
Either way, Dragon Age fans should be cautious and try not to put all their eggs into one basket in hope they’ll see Dragon Age 4 at The Game Awards.
