Tales of Arise promises fishing, farming, and unique, personal bonds
As someone who is deeply enamored with the Tales Of series, it shouldn’t be any surprise that I’m looking forward to Tales of Arise when it releases this September. But that excitement has reached a whole other level, because thanks to the latest video from Bandai Namco we now know that Tales of Arise promises fishing, farming, and other unique activities that’ll strengthen the party’s personal bonds.
Previous Tales Of games had plenty of unique activities, but we have to admit that none seems quite in-depth as the new farming and fishing activities, which seems to have characters help with livestock that you can find around the world. There also seems to be plenty of fishing spots, and as we saw in the most recent Tales of Arise live stream, there’s even a certain lure that Tales of Xillia fans might recognize!
The new Tales of Arise video didn’t give a full look of exactly what to expect when it comes to helping around with farming or fishing, but we assume that there will be some rewards like gold, resources and maybe – again, this is just me speculating – even some things that are skit related? Previous Tales games did have skits related to activities, maybe we can expect the same again?
Speaking of skits! While fans might have grown used to the 2D anime skit scenes that have been around since Tales of Destiny, Tales of Arise is shaking it up by making skits 3D and styled in a way that’s actually similar to manga pages. It might take a while for some people to get used to it, but I have to say that I’m very curious on how this will convey the fun conversations that have been restricted to 2D sprites for over 20 years.
As well as fishing and farming, Tales of Arise will continue with cooking – a mechanic that’s well-known to Tales Of players and is something we went into in great detail in our Tales of Arise preview. What makes this particularly interesting though is that there looks to be unique scenes that happen after each meal. A new, interactive way for characters to build their personal bonds? Sign us up!
Tales of Arise releases on 10th September 2021, on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
