Can you be gay in Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town?

Back when Jessica Howard reviewed Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town, there was a hope that gay romance options would start to become more available in future Story of Season games – so there were certain expectations when Pioneers of Olive Town was announced.

And well, if you’re wondering if there is gay romance in Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town then you’ll be happy to know that yes, you can indeed smooch the aloof, stargazer Damon, and the peppy tourist guide Laura no matter who if you decide to label yourself a boy or a girl.

Of course, if you’re in the know and are aware of playersexuality, then you won’t be too disappointed to find out that most, if not all, the romance options won’t actively act as though you being a boy or a girl is such a big deal.

There are, overall, 10 different romance candidates for you to choose from. Each has their own personality, and to get close to them you’ll have to talk to them each and every day. You can also give them presents, though from what time I spent with my future husband and wife, they don’t seem to mind what you give them. Whether it be a piece of shellfish stew, or some wild berries. To be honest, that does take the fun out of a few things when it comes to gift-giving but at least you’re able to get the love of your life with just a single conversation a day! Just like real life.

However, it isn’t just straight to marriage, you’ll first have to confess to them using a pendant – just to let them know that you’re serious about them. It’s pretty adorable and opens up unique scenes that you can’t get if you were just friends.

There’s also the chance to have children, which is a nice, heartwarming moment for those out there who want to start a child with their husband/wife. Not many games allow for gay marriage, but its even rarer for games to offer characters in a gay relationship the chance to add children to their family.

As of now, that’s all we know about being gay in Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town.
