Call Me Under, an LGBT+ 1950s visual novel revealed on Kickstarter

The year 2020 has been rough, and we think we all deserve a break. That’s where Call Me Under, developed by Lunaris Games, comes in. In this 1950s visual novel, players will travel to the underwater city Styx where humans, sirens, and a host of unknown, otherworldly entities, reside.

Players will take on the role of a faceless protagonist from the surface who is looking to start anew. You somehow end up in the city of Styx and in the middle of a conflict between he Shadows and the Light; two ancient, otherworldly entities embroiled in a centuries-long battle for power.

Dark magic is at play in the city of Styx, but with up to 6 romances to choose from, we’re certain that you’ll find someone to help keep you sane as the supernatural forces close in…

Of course, you may not find yourself interested in romance. That’s a valid choice too, and Call Me Under has more than enough intrigue to and adventure to keep you interested.

It also has a star-studded cast, including voices from Allegra Clarke and Robbie Daymond. You’re able to hear Daymond’s voice in the game’s demo, but the final game will have every love interest voiced. It’s the very first time a Lunaris Game has had voice actors, so it’d be an understatement to say they are already starting strong with the voice actors they have already.

Call Me Under is being created by a small indie team of LGBT+ BIPOC developers with a passion for creating immersive, narrative-driven stories filled with diverse characters. To support them, you can follow them on Twitter.

There are other ways, however. One of them is supporting Call Me Under on Kickstarter, which needs £40,000 in order to for the game to go ahead and release in late 2021.

If the goal is met, Call Me Under will release on PC through Steam and itch.io, as well as on the Nintendo Switch. You can also play the demo, to get a taste of the game, right now.
