Rainbow Game Jam 2020: Top 5 ranked games

This summer saw the return of the Rainbow Game Jam for its fifth consecutive year. This year saw 39 games be made in the two-week jam and you can check all of them out here on itch.io.

Rainbow Game Jam encourages participants to create games exploring and celebrating identity, gender, sexuality, sex, life, Intersectionality, being queer, yourself and your community, pride, protests, and love!

This year, Rainbow Game Jam worked in collaboration with Out Making Games (OMG), the UK video games industry network for the LGBTQ+ community.

Games made in the Jam were rated based on a number of criteria including ‘use of theme’, ‘fun’, ‘art’ and ‘narrative’. You can check out the full rankings on itch.io.

2020’s game jam theme was ‘Strength in Numbers’ – here are the top five games, based on the criteria ‘Use of Theme’:

1st: There’s A Protest In Town

There’s a protest in town… and nobody showed up. We are going to change that!

Find other people and convince them to join the protest.  To convince them, repeat their input tasks and stay in rythm. The bigger the protest gets, the easier is it to convince larger groups of people.
