Baldur’s Gate 3 early access is still on track for 2020 release

With these uncertain times, it’s almost guaranteed that games will be progressing at a slower rate than usual. The Last of Us Part 2, as well as Iron Man VR, has been delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so it’s safe to say other games will be as well. However, fans looking forward to Baldur’s Gate 3 early access can relax – that’s apparently still set to release this year.

Larian Studio’s chief executive, Swen Vincke, has told the New York Times that Baldur’s Gate 3 remains on track, but admits that things have been more than a little difficult thanks to the new, remote settings.

“The very first week, it went really well. Everyone had all the information they needed to just smoothly go work from home,” Vincke explained. But as we all know, working at home can mean getting distracted by caring for your children, or even other family members that need you. “We started seeing more stress on the leads in terms of communication.” Vincke continued, “we’d spend all of our days just communicating — trying to solve problems, organize things, give direction.”

Of course Larian Studios will continue to push on, but development will be slow. We’re certain that no matter when Baldur’s Gate 3 early access will get here, we’re going to be very glad to see it and play the game for ourselves. Everyone is stupid hot in that game, and after being cooped up inside for so long, I have a thirst that needs quenching.
