Confetti’s Cozy Corner: Life Sims, Farming Sims and Horror… Oh My!
Farming Sims and Life Sims are on an upswing for me with all the interesting twists that add a much-needed breath of fresh air into the genres. For a while, there was definitely a period of farming sim/life sim burnout, but the indie space seems to have heard gamers loud and clear to not be afraid to try something new!
I am newer to otome-type games, but there are many queer otomes on the horizon that I am keeping my eye on with much anticipation.
Here are some anticipated indie games with queer representation to add to your wishlist for the life sim, farming sim, horror, and otome gamers!

Paralives
Despite the initial sadness of the delay of Paralives, it remains a highly anticipated title for us life sim lovers. Described as a dollhouse life sim, Paralives is a game packed with representation from body type, hair options, queer dating options, and more! Explore the cozy open world of Paralives by exploring shops, workplaces, city events, and community spaces.
A much-anticipated feature of Paralives that I am personally looking forward to is building, because players will not be limited to a grid and 90-degree angles. I intend to put hours into building my dream home and live the ultimate virtual life. Paralives releases May 25th on Steam for PC and Mac.

Moonlight Peaks
A farming sim with a vampire fun twist? Sign me up! Moonlight Peaks has been anticipated for a very long time, and it’s not a secret as to why. Embracing our vampiric lineage, gamers will customize their character, run a cozy gothic-style farm, and develop magical abilities.
Outside of farming, there are many cozy hobbies to take part in, such as fishing, flower arranging, and embroidering! Moonlight Peaks not only presents a farming sim with a cozy-gothic twist, but also fills this spooky world with fun hobbies, activities, and interesting NPCs.
Did I mention there are mermaids? Explore the town full of magical creators such as witches, werewolves, and my personal favorite, mermaids! Moonlight Peaks is set to release on July 7th on Steam, Google Play Games, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2.

Wylde Society
We are finally returning to Fairhaven in theWylde Flowers prequel, Wylde Society. This story centers on Vivian Wylde, Tara’s ancestor, who is in the process of establishing a magical boarding house that we get to customize! Attend balls, try out the latest fashion trends, and of course, cast magic spells.
Vivian was regarded as a powerful and influential witch throughout Wylde Flowers. It will be fun to explore her life and see how the foundations she laid shaped the magical society of Fairhaven. All the trailers we have seen so far have had amazing queer representation, and we cannot wait to get our hands on this!

Harlequinaide
Love Horror, romance, and otome games? Harlequinade truly has it all. After a night out at a carnival, MC starts to get a feeling like they’ve been through this before. The more you explore, the more you begin to realize this is a never-ending carnival, and you are stuck in an endless loop. Select and customize your MC and begin the journey of trying to end the never-ending carnival, while helping the clowns stuck in this situation with you.
Death is not the end, but simply a new beginning in this queer, campy visual novel. Who will you romance? Will the loop ever end? Harlequinade does not have a set release date, but it is very much anticipated.

Grave Seasons
This game will turn the farming sim genre on its head, and it is highly anticipated! In this narrative-based farming sim, your MC recently escaped from jail and starts a new life in the town of Ashenridge. While trying to establish a new life and routine, you become increasingly aware that something is off about this town. Murders keep occurring, ultimately putting your new life at risk.
As you play through the game, you will not only have to run your farm but solve the mystery of the serial killer in town… before it’s too late. Grave Seasons is set to launch on August 14th on Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox.
