Games Done Queer Kicks Off Today, Raising Funds for Lambda Legal
A brand new speedrunning event from the fundraising powerhouse Games Done Quick is kicking off today. Games Done Queer (GDQueer) is a three-day online marathon featuring over 30 speedruns from talented members of the LGBTQ+ community, running from today, October 31st, through to November 2nd. The entire event will be broadcast live on the official Games Done Quick Twitch channel.
The marathon is raising funds for the Lambda Legal and Education Fund, a vital organization in the fight for equality. As the oldest legal organization in the United States dedicated to the cause, Lambda Legal works to achieve full recognition of the civil rights of LGBTQ+ people and everyone living with HIV through impact litigation, education, and public policy work.
For those unfamiliar, Games Done Quick is a celebrated series of charity video game marathons. For over 15 years, they have showcased high-level gameplay by speedrunners to raise money for good causes. GDQ has partnered with some of the world’s most impactful charities, including AbleGamers, Doctors Without Borders, the Organization for Autism Research, and the Prevent Cancer Foundation. Their efforts have been incredibly successful, with Games Done Quick events raising a staggering total of more than $57.2 million for charity to date.
