LGBTQIA+ indie game Quantum Witch brings multiversal mayhem, magic & heart to Steam Next Fest

Narrative-driven indie game Quantum Witch is set to cast its spell during Steam Next Fest which starts next week – June 9-16. The demo will give players a hands-on look at the darkly comedic and deeply personal adventure created by solo developer NikkiJay.

Quantum Witch offers players a chance to experience an emotional, story-rich adventure where every choice matters, and the world is filled with secrets waiting to be discovered. Curious players who seek out the unknown will find that exploration is rewarded with new insights, lore, and quests.

In the game, players take on the role of Ren, a farm girl from the peaceful utopia of Hus. Ren’s quiet life is thrown into chaos when she is pulled into an inter-dimensional conflict involving ancient gods, cosmic forces, and mysterious powers.

The multiverse is vast, and Ren’s choices will shape its future – but with the fate of her world hanging in the balance, the consequences of every action (and inaction) are greater than ever.

What sets Quantum Witch apart is its deeply personal narrative, which draws on the experiences of NikkiJay, who grew up in a high-control cult where video games were one of the few escapes she had. Overcoming trauma, coming out, and losing her family in the process, NikkiJay poured her heart into creating Quantum Witch – a game that explores themes of personal growth, healing, and the power of choice, all wrapped in a fantastical, queer-centered universe.

Through Quantum Witch, she has reclaimed her story and turned it into a piece of art filled with humor, empathy, and magic. Check out our interview with her from last year for more on this.

The fully playable Steam Next Fest demo of Quantum Witch will be available to the public from June 9–16, head of the game’s full launch on June 24th.
