Heartstopper Season 3 hits Netflix in October 2024
On March 20, Netflix announced that Heartstopper Season 3 will launch on the streaming platform sometime during October of this year.
Stars of the series Joe Locke and Kit Connor shared the news with fans via a video released on the Netflix YouTube channel.
Heartstopper Season 3 has a lot in store for its teenaged cast. Charlie (played by Locke) wants to tell Nick (Connor) that he loves him. Nick, meanwhile, is coming to understand the full extent of Charlie’s mental health issues, which we started to see in the previous season. As the summer holidays wrap up and the crew return to their respective schools the pressures of social life, studying, and looming university choices creep in as well.
The Netflix adaptation has made some changes with how Charlie’s desire to confess his feelings to Nick is depicted.
“In the comics, there are a couple of moments where Charlie thinks he’s going to say ‘I love you’ and then decides not to, but the actual cliff-hanger at the end of Season 2 is not something that is in the comics,” Heartstopper creator Oseman told Tudum in a previous interview.
Oseman is a writer on the Netflix show, though, so the original creator is always involved.
“I cannot wait for the third season of Heartstopper to be released in October,” said Oseman in a press release.
“Season two ended with Nick beginning to understand the extent of Charlie’s mental health issues, and it’s this that will drive the story through season three. While Heartstopper will always celebrate the joyful and point towards hope, I’m really excited that we are allowing the tone of the show to mature alongside our beloved characters growing up.”
“Mental health, sex, university ambitions and more: Nick, Charlie, and the Heartstopper teens are getting older, learning more about themselves and each other, and experiencing new desires, new fears, and new joys as they approach adulthood.”
