Indie game studio Rookery Interactive has recently announced its debut game, A Good Night’s Rest.
A Good Night’s Rest has been described as a mental-health roleplaying strategy game about wrestling your inner demons. In a video teaser, the studio showcased a teaser trailer of environmental backgrounds and original music.
While we don’t know too much about the full story of A Good Night’s Rest, what we can glean from both the teaser above and Rookery Interactive’s website, is that players will be able to meet a unique bunch of queer characters (drawn from the writers’ actual experiences), and, depending on their choices, get a good sleep for once. If that doesn’t sound wonderful, we don’t know what to tell you.
Rookery Interactive is a “proudly disabled, queer, and women-owned” video game studio with “a lot of soul.” Its founders have a simple mission statement: “Building the studio where we’d want to work.”
The developer’s website also shares that they have a commitment to diversity, one that doesn’t “start or end” with its hiring process. What this means for A Good Night’s Rest remains to be seen, but for players who are looking for a more diverse and inclusive video game? It sounds promising.
