Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 4 adds new kissing animations

Baldur’s Gate 3 fixed hundreds of different bugs with Patch 4, such as stopping enemies from shooting you from ceilings and floors, as well as adding additional idle animations for characters like Karlach, Lae’zel, Halsin, and Minthara. Some fixes, some new stuff. Great!

But that’s not all. One of the additional changes that has got some of the community fired up is the inclusion of new animations for your companions. As far as we’re able to gleam from our own tests (as well as what’s been shared online), the majority of your Baldur’s Gate 3 romance options have a different way to kiss you, thanks to Patch 4.

For example, your sweet and casual kiss with Halsin, which was merely a peck before, has now transformed into a more animated make-out session, befitting the vibe of that romance.

On the flip side, Karlach’s new kiss is much more tender and loving than the peck on the lips. She cradles your cheek and pulls you closer before resting her forehead on yours and pulling back.

As far as we can tell, there are other changes for romance options, but it seems more to do with the camera angle than the animation itself. What we like about the inclusion of these new animations — outside of how cute they are — is its ability to showcase just how different

There have also been some reports on the new patch causing other bugs, with Shadowheart not being able to follow the rest of the group now, as well as Wyll’s kissing animation seemingly not triggering at all. Patch 4 giveth, Patch 4 taketh away.

Baldur’s Gate 3 has been out for nearly 4 months now, and it continues to have a firm grip on players, ranking above multiplayer games like Warframe and even CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077. With new additions added in each patch, it’s not hard to see why.
