APICO heads underwater next week with What Lies Beeneath update

Environmental beekeeping game APICO is getting a new update next week, What Lies Beeneath, which will take players under the ocean to experience a whole new way to interact with their bees. The game is available now on PC, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch.

In APICO, players leave their big corporate job to return to their childhood home in Port APICO to take over their family’s beekeeping business. There, you learn how to care for your bee farm using real-life scientific techniques to raise your bees and the flowers they need to survive. Your day-to-day activities include resource gathering, bee breeding, beekeeping minigames, and more, all with the focus of highlighting how important bees and their conservation are to the environment. You also discover long-lost species of bees and help bring them back so they can return to the local ecosystem.

With the What Lies Beeneath update, players will be able to start exploring the waters that surround APICO archipelago. The ocean includes new areas to explore, new items to forage, new quests to take on, and new, aquatic bees to discover and care for. Beyond that, a new character called Captain will arrive on the archipelago to teach you all about the game’s newest mechanic: fishing.

The APICO What Lies Beeneath update is also bringing some quality of life updates to the game. These include a new trash can so you can more easily get rid of items you no longer want or need, and a nearby chest auto-deposit point so you can drop off your goods without having to go all the way back home.

Players can check this update out on September 26 when it launches for PC, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch.
