Coral Island DLC raises $50,000 for charity

On Thursday, publisher Humble Games and developer Stairway Games announced that the Coral Island charity DLC pack, Ocean Guardian, raised $50,000 for ocean conservation organization Coral Guardian.

Coral Island is an early-access, tropical farming simulator where players trade in their bustling city life for a more idyllic existence on the titular island. You can create your farm, explore the island, and build relationships with your fellow residents as you also develop your relationship with nature. These themes line up perfectly with Coral Guardian’s mission, making this a fitting collaboration.

From July 11 through August 8, players were able to purchase special, in-game cosmetic items from the Coral Guardian set, which included a special chest, an Ocean Guardian outfit, and Ocean Guardian scarecrow. 100% of the profits from this DLC pack went towards ocean conservation efforts through the Coral Guardian organization. Coral Guardian’s mission is to protect and restore coral ecosystems worldwide by working with the local communities that depend on them.

This charity DLC is one of many similar efforts Humble Bundle has organized over the years. The publisher has a history of charity bundles, and also runs the Black Game Developer Fund, which aims to provide more support and resources to Black devs, who have historically been underrepresented.
