Stairway Games announces charity Coral Island DLC, ‘Ocean Guardian’

On Thursday, Stairway Games and Humble Games announced a limited-time DLC pack for Coral Island called Ocean Guardian. All of the proceeds from this DLC pack’s sales will be donated to charity, allowing players to participate in oceanic conservation efforts both in-game and in real life. It will be available to purchase from the Windows Store or Steam from July 11 – August 8.

Coral Island is an early access farming simulation adventure where players escape the big city of Pokyo in favor of an idyllic farm life on the titular island. The game is very focused on building a bond with the natural world around you, so this environmentalist collaboration seems like a good thematic fit.

The Coral Island Ocean Guardian DLC pack was created in partnership with a non-profit organization called Coral Guardian. The organization’s mission is to protect and restore coral ecosystems worldwide. Coral Guardian does this by working with the local communities that depend on these ecosystems.

“It’s an honor to be partnering with Humble Games and Stairway Games and to have their support in our efforts to save our oceans,” said Coco Tamlyn, Coral Guardian Director. “This collaboration and generous contribution will allow us to combine the power of gaming and conservation to continue raising awareness and safeguarding our beautiful waters.”

The Ocean Guardian DLC pack includes the Ocean Guardian outfit, an Ocean Guardian-themed storage chest, and an Ocean Guardian scarecrow for your farm that looks like a little whale. These items will be available in any of your future playthroughs of Coral Island once you purchase the Ocean Guardian DLC pack.

“We’re thrilled to partner with Coral Guardian to contribute to the global restoration and protection of vital marine habitats,” said Kamini Tiwari, Vice President of Social Impact, Humble Games. “Coral Island invites players to have a hand in the conservation and protection of virtual coral reefs – our work with Coral Guardian helps bring these efforts to life. Together, we can make a positive impact on our environment and inspire others to take action.”

You can purchase the Coral Island DLC pack ‘Ocean Guardian’ now over on Steam and the Humble Bundle store.
