Esports summit and tournament Black College Con is March 11

On Saturday, March 11, the Black Collegiate Gaming Association is hosting its Black College Con esports summit at Miles College in Fairfield, Alabama. Both college and high school students are allowed to participate, and registration is free.

The summit’s theme is “Black in Unity,” and is an event “consisting of conversations, connections, and tournaments; introducing Black College students to Black corporate partners & entrepreneurs in the gaming/esports industry.”

“BCC is the first ever property of its kind, where successful Black corporate executives and entrepreneurs educate, mentor & pay it forward to Black college students interested in the gaming & esports industry.”

The organization aims to “pivot our black, women of color college students & HBCUs into the overall gaming and esports industry, not only as consumers but as contributors.”

This event will also be the culmination of the Black College Con Tour, which was a series of tournament events held across three universities in the southern United States. The BCC Tour kicked off in February to celebrate Black History Month in the U.S. Festivities will wrap up with the summit and tournaments at Miles College on Saturday.

Black College Con attendees will get to spend the first half of the day listening to key note speakers, watching esports videos, attending panels, and playing games. Once this wraps up, two esports tournaments will be held starting at 6 p.m. ET and running until 9 p.m. ET. The competition games for these events will be Rocket League and NBA 2K. After the winners for both games are determined, the night will wrap up with a presentation ceremony for scholarships and awards.
