Margot Robbie has “been pushing” hard for Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy romance

Margot Robbie is a real one and has been pushing hard for a romance between her character, Harley Quinn, and the anti-hero / villain, Poison Ivy.

In an interview with ComicBook.com about her upcoming film Babylon, Robbie was asked a question about whether fans would eventually see a live-action Harlivy (Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy) romance on the big screen one day.

The actress replied that she had “been pushing for that for years. I cannot tell you how hard I’ve been pushing for that. I want it too.”

Margot Robbie isn’t the only one who would like to see the romance between Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy explored. Cathy Yan, the director behind Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey, has previously talked about how, if she had the reins to create a sequel to Birds of Prey, she would focus on the relationship between Harley and Ivy. Unfortunately this doesn’t look as though it’ll be happening anytime soon with no confirmation a sequel is even in the works.

The relationship between Harley and Ivy has been a fan-favourite ever since the two were paired up together in Batman: The Animated Series. It first aired in January 1993 and ever since the two have been an explosive couple as both friends, roommates and, more commonly now in the 2010’s and 2020’s, lovers.

Even more recently is the portrayal of the Harley and Ivy relationship in HBO Max’s animated series, Harley Quinn. Not only has it been renewed for a fourth season, its portrayal of the couple’s unique relationship with one another has been a major selling point. While not the live-action romp that fans and Margot Robbie are looking for, fans of Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy have been eating very well thanks to this particular show. And that’s not even touching on the fact that DC Comics have also been throwing Harlivy fans a bone every now and then.

But when will we get live-action Harlivy romance to complete the perfect Harlivy trifecta? Hopefully sometime soon.
