Drag and games combine with SlayStation: The Master Ball in 2023

2023 is fast approaching, and SlayStation: The Master Ball wants to make sure it starts with a bang.

Hosted by comedy duo and gaming royalty, Velvet Caveat and Loose Willis, SlayStation was originally founded at the end of 2021 and is currently the only regular cabaret and gaming show and club night in the world, providing audience members with new themes and entertainment each month. SlayStation advertises itself as the night-out that gives the geeks exactly what they want: drag and video games combined.

“Whether you’ve been to a previous sell-out show or seen us go viral on TikTok, you won’t find a night like this anywhere else in the world.” Host Velvet Caveat says. “I can’t wait to start next year by hosting our biggest event yet alongside the hilarious Loose Willis, resident performer at Pecs and host of Fist Club. SlayStation has only existed for a year but we have already amassed a cult following and have gone viral on TikTok multiple times with over a million views. I think this really shows the importance of this niche and having these spaces for nerds of all backgrounds. As a trans woman gaming helped me express my identity and have agency over who I am.”.

Since 2021, SlayStation has only got bigger. On 21st January 2023, SlayStation will be hosting their biggest event yet at the Clapham Grand, London. The night will also include special guests like Kim Chi from RuPaul’s Drag Race season 8 and Dakota Schiffer from RuPaul’s Drag Race UK season 4.

The theme for the evening is everyone’s favourite monster catcher: Pokémon! Or, if you want to be different and celebrate Digimon we have it on good authority that nobody will judge.

The event will feature a range of different performances, bonus levels and even prizes! All you have to do is come as your favourite critter or trainer, participate in SlayStation’s games and get the top score to win some very nerdy prizes. The favourite costume of the night (judged by the event’s very own Elite 4, featuring the Drag Race guests) will win a bundle, including one of the Pokémon Violet or Scarlet games.

Doors will open at 6pm and the show will start at 7:30pm. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early with their Nintendo switches to get a good spot, and bring their cards and games to trade with other gamers if they so wish.
