Knights Arena to take over as organizer for NA VCT Game Changers in 2023

On Thursday Riot Games announced that Knights Arena — the events arm of esports organization Pittsburg Knights — will be taking over as the official tournament organizer for both VCT Game Changers and VCT Challengers in North America for 2023. According to the announcement, the Pittsburg Knights will no longer be fielding a professional Valorant team during the 2023-2024 season, and will be solely focused on supporting NA Valorant through Knights Arena events.

The Pittsburg Knights launched in 2017, and have since been recognized by the city of Pittsburg as a premier team. They’ve partnered with the likes of rapper Wiz Khalifa, and six-time Super Bowl champions the Pittsburg Steelers. In the past, Knights Arena has hosted Valorant tournaments like the Sakura Cup — a bi-monthly tournament for women and nonbinary players — and the Valorant Gauntlet Series.

“Over the past two years, we’ve hosted dozens of events supporting the Valorant community and tier-two scene. Being selected by Riot for this opportunity is a reflection of the effort and passion our organization has put into running those events and helping the scene grow,” said James O’Connor, President of the Pittsburgh Knights. “We’re very thankful for this partnership and are looking forward to producing some amazing content for Valorant fans.”

“The Knights have proven their ability to run successful tournaments that embody the goals of Valorant, and they bring years of experience and passion to this new partnership,” Bear Jemison, Head of VCT Americas, said. “We’re excited to work closely with The Knights team on NA Challengers and Game Changers, and I’m confident that together, we’ll build something that fans will enjoy.”

The Knights Arena takeover for VCT Challengers and VCT Game Changers’ 2023-2024 season will begin on December 5 with the Challenger League Qualifiers. More information about this tournament and the upcoming Game Changers season will be coming from Knights Arena and Riot Games soon.
