CD Projekt Red reveals Cyberpunk 2077 sequel
CD Projekt Red has revealed today, via Twitter, that they are working on six different projects – with the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel being one of them.
In a post that highlighted the six projects, the company also announced three different projects for The Witcher – a series that is wildly popular and follows the story of Geralt of Rivia. The games series surged even more in popularity when the first season of the TV adaptation aired on Netflix.
The Polish company also announced a new IP, simply known as Hadar.
However what has surprised gamers is that, alongside the release of the Phantom Liberty DLC for Cyberpunk 2077, the Polish developers are also working on a Cyberpunk 2077 sequel.
Titled Cyberpunk 2077 Orion, nothing is known about what to expect from the sequel outside of it being described as a “Cyberpunk 2077 sequel that will prove the full power and potential of the Cyberpunk universe” and that it will be developed by CD Projekt Red.
Despite being absolutely ridiculed at release due to its numerous bugs, missing features and, let’s be honest, its blatant transphobia, the series has slowly been regaining a positive name for itself throughout the years of its release. It’s currently one of the most popular games available to play on Steam Deck, and the successful launch of its anime has no doubt helped boost the game’s image up from the muck.
A timeline for the release of the Cyberpunk 2077 Orion has not been revealed.
