Rainbow Royale returns to Fortnite

On Tuesday, Epic Games announced that the LGBTQ+ Pride event in Fortnite, Rainbow Royale, will be returning to the game in September. In addition to in-game celebrations within Fortnite, Epic Games is also highlighting LGBTQ+ games on its online store and hosting a rainbow themed art competition for fans.

“Join us as we celebrate love, understanding, acceptance, and all of the colors that make up our community,” Epic Games wrote in a blog post. “Rainbow Royale returns! Celebrate your pride and the LGBTQIA+ community with fun in-game events in Fortnite, express yourself with Sketchfab, and discover new exciting games in the Epic Games Store.”

To celebrate within the game itself, Fortnite players will be able to snag Rainbow Royale-themed items from the item shop for free until September 16. These include the Dip Emote, the Say It Proud lobby track, two loading screens, and more. Transgender DC superhero Dreamer (aka Nia Nal) will also soon be joining the battle royale. The actress who plays Dreamer on the CW’s Supergirl, Nicole Maines, will be streaming Fortnite on Twitch September 8 at 9 p.m. ET alongside content creator Chica.

Fans can also check out Rainbow Crossroads, a colorful island created by 3D Lab where fans can check out mini-games and the Fotography studio. The mini-games include kart racing and the Whirly Jump, where players can earn Rainbow Style points to trade to unlock colorful trails and titles to express themselves. Players can access this island in the game’s Discovery screen, or by entering the code 0487-8528-5944. Visiting Rainbow Crossroads is also a way to complete the Play Your Way quests and earn the Kaleido-Crusher Pickaxe and other cosmetics.

Fans can also participate in the SketchFab 3D art competition, for the week of September 5, which is rainbow themed. The Fortnite team’s favorite pieces will be featured on social media and in staff picks.
