Danah joins Rebels Gaming Velvet in time for Valorant Game Changers Series 3

On Saturday, former Alliance.Coven Valorant player Dana “Danah” Al-Madhoun announced that she has joined Spanish esports organization Rebels Gaming to be a part of their Valorant Game Changers team, Rebels Gaming Velvet.

The organization announced Danah’s joining via a tweet in Spanish, which translated reads:

“We’re welcoming the final piece that completes the REBELS VELVET roster: Dana “Danah” @DanahFPS. Now yes, we are ready for the #VCTGameChangers that starts on the 19 and 20 of this month. #BeRebels.”

“Joined @RebelsGaming Velvet,” Danah tweeted about the announcement. “Super honored to play with these insane girls and excited to show what we have been working on in VCT GC.”

Rebels Gaming is an esports organization located in Madrid, Spain. The org is “nonconformist and constructive with the clear objective of finding better ways of doing things,” according to its website.

“The digital age and the latest technologies create a new playing field in which to develop new skills and new dreams,” founder and president David De Gea wrote on the website. “Let’s take advantage of this great opportunity and develop a better society”

Danah is an interesting esports athlete, as she made the transition to this space from traditional sports. She used to play volleyball professionally, representing Qatar as an outside hitter and team captain. The now 25-year old quit volleyball at 19 after she sustained a spinal injury on top of being diagnosed with Lumbar Radiculopathy back when she was 17. She had to have massages and acupuncture or pain killing pills to even be able to play, so she decided to retire.

With all of her new free time, Danah started playing video games, particularly League of Legends in hopes of learning how to play MOBA-style games well enough to play DOTA 2 with her older brother. But after discovering Counter Strike: GO she realized she preferred first-person shooters. With the CS:GO scene in the middle east dying, and basically being nonexistent for women, Danah didn’t really get her chance to compete beyond the local level until she started Valorant. Though it was initially for fun, she was soon invited to join an unsigned team called ChatBanned that would eventually be signed and become Alliance.Coven. Now she will be competing in VCT Game Changers under the Rebels Gaming Velvet banner, hoping to qualify for the Game Changers Championships in Berlin, Germany this November.
