Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty will be the game’s only expansion

Phantom Liberty, the new and upcoming expansion for Cyberpunk 2077, is the only one planned for the action role-playing game.

Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty was revealed yesterday, showing off new footage and dialogue that seems to imply V will be working to protect the US president in a weird G.I Joe-esque twist. Nothing is more punk than protecting the American President, after all.

However, outside of the new trailer – which can be viewed below – not much is known about what we can expect from the new expansion. It was confirmed that Keanu Reeves would be coming back, and that the DLC will take place before the end-game missions, but outside of that? The goings-on of the expansion remains a mystery.

But what we do know is, thanks to CD Projekt Red’s comment to a fan on YouTube (which can be seen here via TheGamer) and an official blog post from the Polish developer, that Phantom Liberty will be the only expansion for Cyberpunk 2077.

“We can confirm that the expansion in the works right now is the only planned expansion developed for Cyberpunk 2077.” The blog post reads.

The developer also clarified that the DLC would only be available for PC, Google Stadia, and next-gen consoles like the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Although the game is available on PS4 and Xbox One again, these consoles will not receive the DLC – a controversial move to be sure.

“We’ve made the difficult decision to develop it only for PC, Stadia, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, as the scope for the expansion makes releasing it for previous-gen consoles technologically challenging without compromising player experience.”

Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty will release sometime in 2023.
